Evaluation of EU R&D proposals
Marten Brascamp participated recently in the evaluation of railway safety R&D proposals under the EU Sixth Framework Programme (Directorate H).

BrascampVeiligheidAdvies is a safety consultancy firm in the Netherlands, specialized in process safety management and human factors. The firm is headed by Marten Brascamp, formerly deputy head of TNO's Industrial Safety Department in The Netherlands.
He graduated in electrical engineering in 1973 and joined Cooper Bessemer's control division, computerising control systems for long-distance transport of natural gas in France and the UK.
In 1975 he joined TNO, The Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research.
First he was occupied in energy planning and was advisor for the Ministry of Economic Affairs in The Netherlands and for the Organisation of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries OAPEC in Kuwait.

As from 1988 he is involved in reliability engineering and industrial safety.
He was advisor for the European Commission in the establishment of the SEVESO-directive for major hazard prevention in the process industry. He was a recogized trainer and auditor in the implementation of the directive in various major hazard companies in The Netherlands and abroad.
Since 1997 he is senior advisor to HSL-Zuid, the highspeed rail link Amsterdam-Brussels.
He is the principle's lead assessor of the safety case for HSL-Zuid's superstructure.
Marten Brascamp is a regular advisor to the European Commission as an independent expert in evaluating research proposals under the Fifth and Sixth Framework Programme in various fields including transport (Directorate H).
To date Marten Brascamp is advisor on safety management and safety culture for the Ministry of Transport in The Netherlands.
BrascampVeiligheidAdvies closely co-operates with an international network of safety specialists and with a number of firms in the field of consulting, engineering and quality assurance.
